PaulandRamona,ayoungcoupleinneedofachange,movetoPortland,OregonfromtheirhometownofBoise.Uponarriving,theysubletanapartmentandbegintofamiliarizethemselveswiththecity.Whilefindingworkiseasy(Ramonabeginswaitressing,whilePaulgetsajobatacoffeeshop),changeisdifficult.Theirlifeinthisnewcityseemstobeonrepeat.Whentheircarbreaksdownandatandembicyclebecomestheirprimarymeansoftransportation,Ramonarefusestoride.
